National Day of Silence

Say nothing. Make a statement.

Open invites you to join us on Thursday, April 24 for the twelfth annual National Day of Silence. Participants will take a day-long vow of silence to raise awareness of the discrimination and harassment—the de facto silencing—that many queer students still face today. We’ll conclude the day with a Breaking the Silence ceremony. Regardless of your participation level, we invite you to join us for this ceremony. There will be an open mic for anyone who would like to share experiences, readings, or reflections.

Register as a participant or a supporter.

Register here to join Open’s recognition of National Day of Silence. We’ll provide you with a silk-screened armband to indicate that you are either a participant taking a vow of silence or a supporter of the cause.
